What Clients Are Saying About Anthony F. Shaker, PhD:

Anthony has been key to developing my writing career. He has been, and continues to be, a mentor, a trusted intellectual mind that holds thoughts and words with care and insight. Yet he sees, not merely the written text, but the soul and spirit that is behind every passage that emerges from a writers deepest parts.

His editing and critiquing talent has been the catalyst to make my thoughts sing and dance on a page. His attention to detail, his vast vocabulary, his eye for the tiniest elements of structure, character, even grammar and punctuation leave no stone unturned in his quest to deliver perfection to a client. He makes me look good!

I have been working with Dr Shaker for about two years and will continue to work with him, if he will, on many projects to come.

Tony,
I lived through the events described in my first two books, but you brought everything back to life in a way that makes me tear! During WWII, I was the youngest resistance commander in Nazi-occupied Greece, and didn't expect to make it through the war—none of us did. I was captured and brought before a Gestapo woman captain. She became my torturer, but later she fell in love with me because I treated her humanely after I took her prisoner during my escape. Go figure! Well, I survived and we booted the occupiers out.

But I had no idea that fellow Greeks would betray us after the War. I immigrated to Canada after the British and US governments used their Greek lackeys to kill and rob other Greeks. In Canada I built one successful business after another...You brought it all back to life!

From an old man to a good friend, who might just as well have fought the occupation by my side, please accept my heartfelt thanks for all your work.

Thank you very much for all of your work on my book. Your knowledge of the “religions” of the world is amazing. The fact that I found you through an advertisement shows that there is truly a God who watches over all of our activities.

As I was working and am working my way through an understanding of what God wants for our lives, your knowledge and patience has been indispensable. You have been patient to direct me toward the true picture, when I wanted to stretch for my own conclusions. If you did not know off of the top of your head, you have always been willing to do whatever research was necessary to find the best answer. Thank you for your help so far.

I am nowhere near complete in my journey to understand “religion” and why the believers fight. I could not have come this far without your help and knowledge.

Tony was a Godsend when I was doing the early drafts of "Wawona Brotherhood," my projected first volume of a possible Trilogy of my political autobiography, covering San Jose and Silicon Valley in the 1960s and their aftermath.

My efforts to secure support for the idea were floundering, and there were serious structural problems with organizing such a long period into a manageable and readable work. As the project evolved, Tony worked over a span of two years to bring the manuscript up to publishing standards. In close cooperation with me, he looked after essential details in my memoir that did not unreasonably lengthen the project.

I am deeply in debt for his contribution and acknowledge such in the preface of Volume One, now published by Strategic Book Publishing, a small New York specialtiy house that took the same care examplified by Tony in its delivery and promotion of an important contribution to Movement history, including my personal account of the Civil Rights movement of the latter half of the 20th Century.

I have just completed the process of publishing my first manuscript, and I must say that you have helped me find the most eloquent and highest expression for my thoughts. I want to acknowledge your tremendous contribution to my personal success and that of my book project. I look forward to using you as my resource to support all of my writing needs. You are a true master at what you do.

Dr. Shaker, I have read the manuscript and I am so darn impressed with what you have done I can't find words to express it. You are definitely a master at what you do. I hope you will allow me to include you in my acknowledgments, because I want those who read the book to know about you...You certainly deserve that if you would allow me.

Tony, I cried when I finished reading the book today. I loved the work that you did.  I can't thank you enough. You have been the savior of my book with your vivid and clear wordplay that the reader can relate to and visualize. This book is based on a true story and very raw. When I began writing this book it was geared towards one specific reader. You were able to paint a more diverse feel for the story while still capturing it's essence. The book was good based on my own writing skills, but you made it great! If you want to bring your writing to life Tony Shaker is the best to do it! Thank you and God Bless you  for all of your help.

I have just finished reading the manuscript. This is phenomenally good! You have said basically what I wanted to say in an extremely eloquent way that I wasn't even close to accomplishing. I can't believe it, but this is one of the best nonfiction reads I have come across in a while.

My mother said she would like to meet you one day…I have to agree that you did an incredible job getting in sync with my memories and emotions. I am so glad that I decided to work with you! I hope we will continue to work together on future projects.

Anthony is extremely knowledgeable. He has written with authority in my topic area—educational psychology—even though he has no formal training in it. My book is intended for a general audience, but I had no time to write it myself. He made sure he understood my ideas and motive for writing the book, before gathering all the material. Once we got started he worked hard to achieve exactly what I wanted, and kept within the timelines we agreed on right to the end. He is a reliable, responsible professional superbly focused on the results. I am so glad he accepted to take the journey with me.

Before Anthony became involved in my project I was never going to complete my,  book, Two Rivers of Gold. Frustrated I turned to him for help and in a short time, with his guidance, the project was completed. He was candid, helpful, understand- ing and professional. Recently I started another novel and will no doubt seek his help at some point. In between projects he has always been available to answer questions and assisted me in the search for an agent.

When I was searching for an editor , I decided to go for Anthony Shaker because  my uncommon maiden name was the same: Shaker. The fact that he had earned a PhD, which requires hard work and dedication, only solidified my choice. However, the only real reason I stayed with Anthony was because of his skill as an editor. He helped this life-time writer to polish her narratives into ready-to-publish, readable material. What's more, he kept faith in me when my confidence level hit rock bottom, as it's bound to do with every author. And he helped me find a good literary agent. He stuck with me until my manuscript was accepted. And Shakespeare asked "What's in a Name?" In my case, it helped me choose the perfect editor.

- Adla M. Hannon-Shaker, retired nurse, teacher, WWII

   veteran

Go Softly Into the Night (crime novel)

I found working with you a pleasure and an experience that helped me grow as a writer. Even when I found that I didn't agree 100 per cent with your solution to a problem, I saw that there had, indeed, been a problem to solve. Usually, however, the problem was mine and the solution yours.

I can't tell you how much you have helped me with my writing. I want to thank you for the great job you did editing my manuscript. Your work, according to an agent in D.C., was exceptional. Thank you again. If I had known about your work before my book Footprints Of The Garden Snake was published, it would have saved me a lot of time. Oh by the way, you may purchase a copy on line at Amazon.com.
