I have just completed the process of publishing my first manuscript, and I must say that you have helped me find the most eloquent and highest expression for my thoughts. I want to acknowledge your tremendous contribution to my personal success and that of my book project. I look forward to using you as my resource to support all of my writing needs. You are a true master at what you do.

Dr. Shaker, I have read the manuscript and I am so darn impressed with what you have done I can't find words to express it. You are definitely a master at what you do. I hope you will allow me to include you in my acknowledgments, because I want those who read the book to know about you...You certainly deserve that if you would allow me.

Working to Keep It Personal...

Ah, the good old days when the "real chef" ruled from on high and spared himself the kitchen grease. All he had to do was grease the hands of his second-in-command! You know, with promises, flowers and stuff...

Oh, get a light! That ad ran a long time ago...too long for most of you to remember. That's right, before the Internet and Twitter and iPads and apps. So, let me assure you that my 31-year marriage with Françoise works nothing like that.

The fact is I never felt comfortable "farming out" writing projects. It's not that my wife couldn't handle the job. Writing simply isn't her pet activity or core competency. Come to think of it, many self-crowned "professionals" have no core competency to speak of: freelancers, ghosts, copywriters, editors, manuscript critics, publishers, and promoters.

Knowledge of basic grammar is not enough to make you a good writer, much less qualify you to assist others for a fee. I found that out the hard way many years ago, when I hired a couple of ghostwriters for a project I had no time to bring to fruition.

Oh, the regrets!

More important to me than anything else I do, as a writer-for-hire and editor, is to maintain the quality and the personal character of my writing services.
